The European Union: Fourth Year of a Crisis, or Birth Pangs of a New Historical Period? (Lecture)

Dr. Manfred Stinnes

Thursday September 13, 2012
4:00pm - 5:30pm
Kansas Union, Kansas Room
After ten years of enormous success, the euro is in a crisis. Most countries in the euro zone believe that the long-term solution lies in the creation of an economic and political union. Dr. Stinnes will discuss the prospects for such a union in view of significant anti-EU sentiment among Europeans. Dr. Stinnes is German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Visiting Lecturer in Political Science for Fall 2012. Formerly a diplomat at the American Embassy in Bonn and Berlin, he is currently Adjunct Lecturer in International Relations at the Humboldt University in Berlin.
