12:00pm - 1:30pm
Stauffer-Flint Hall, Room 100
The Office of Multicultural Affairs invites you to a special workshop on diversity training led by Director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs, Blane Harding. The title of the presentation is, The Identity Wheel: Dimensions of Diversity, and Blane will discuss cultural awareness of domestic diversity and how this develops into cultural competence. Over the past two years KU has been very successful in recruiting a record number of diverse freshmen students, which fits well with the objectives of Bold Aspirations. As practitioners increasing their cultural competency this will allow them to have a better understanding of diverse populations, increased credibility, strengthened relationships, and greater trust and effectiveness. The end result of connecting with diverse students is increased retention, persistence, and graduation rates.
