KU International Affairs is pleased to announce the 2021 Woodyard International Educator Award winner, Professor Kapila Silva.

Professor Silva is committed to international education, research, service and internationalization of the curriculum in the School of Architecture Design & Planning. He developed the first ever Asia-focused immersive study abroad program, which has taken over 250 students all over Asia to explore local architecture and urbanism; has designed domestic elective courses on Historic Preservation Theory that brings non-Western perspectives to the discipline; mentors advanced degree seeking students as they research international and cross-cultural topics; researches and collaborates with international colleagues focusing on global heritage conservation; is committed to both deepening and developing institutional partnerships abroad; engages with KUIA and several of KU’s area studies centers; and co-directs the Multicultural Architecture Scholars Program. His commitment to international education is transformative to the discipline.
