About this Event
1541 Lilac Lane, Lawrence, KS 66045
Shawn Ratcliff will join us from the Kansas City Research Data Center to provide information on resources available to researchers at KU. The KC Research Data Center is a member of the U.S. Census Bureau’s data research network and is the access point for KU researchers seeking to access detailed census data not available to the public.
Such data includes detailed personal and household information from census surveys, data on individual tax records, and data from a variety of government programs (such as WIC, Medicaid, etc.), as well as others. Ratcliff will provide information about the type of data that is available behind the “firewall.” and the process of creating a census project and acquiring special sworn status to access this data. Any researcher interested in using this data should come to learn about the multi-step process required to use this powerful data tool.
