RE: Preparation for the 2023 KITS Summer Institute
Please review the following in preparation for your attendance at the Summer Institute, June 6-8, 2023, in Wichita. This year the Summer Institute (SI) will be held at the Eugene M. Hughes Metropolitan Complex, Wichita State University. The venue address is 5015 East 29th St. N, Wichita KS, 67220.
1. Participation Requirement: Participants must attend all three days of the Summer Institute.
2. Directions Eugene M. Hughes Metropolitan Complex: The Metropolitan Complex is located on the Northwest side of Wichita, South of KS Highway 96 on the corner of N. Oliver Street and East 29th Street N. See Google Map at www.google.com/maps/@37.7359769
3. Parking: Parking is free at the venue. Park on the Northeast side of the building and enter on the side doors for easy access to the presentation room.
4. Commuting: Participants who choose to commute will be reimbursed at .655 cents (or current IRS rate) per mile up to 100 miles (round trip) per day. Milage will be calculated via MapQuest based on address of departure and Eugene M. Hughes Metropolitan Complex.
5. Hotel: Participants who live more than 30 miles from Wichita are eligible to stay in a hotel of their choice and will be reimbursed up to $130 per night total for all expenses for up to three nights stay. A copy of your hotel receipt is required and must be provided to Misty Goosen on the final day of SI. It is your responsibility to make your hotel reservations.
A block of rooms has been reserved at the Aloft Hotel, 3642 Oliver, Wichita, KS 67220. Call the following phone number, +13167441100, and let them know you want one of the rooms in the block for the 2023 KITS (Kansas Inservice Training System) Summer Institute. The cutoff date for the room block reservations is May 29, 2023.
Participants staying in a hotel will be reimbursed for milage for one round trip and will be calculated via MapQuest based on address of departure and Eugene M. Hughes Metropolitan Complex.
6. W-9 Tax Form: In order to receive expense reimbursement participants will be required to fill out a W-9 tax form. Forms will be provided on the last day of SI.
7. Summer Institute Daily Classes: The Summer Institute classes will be held in the Room 180. Sessions begin on Tuesday, June 6 at 8:00 a.m. Daily dismissal is typically at 4:00 p.m. A daily agenda is attached. We suggest that you dress comfortably and bring a sweater or jacket. We have little control regarding the temperature of the rooms. Sometimes the rooms are very cool; other times they are very warm, so please plan accordingly. Lunch and afternoon break snacks will be provided on-site.
