The Cofrin Logan Center for Addiction Research and Treatment at KU invites you to join us for our second Seminar Series event of the fall semester. Dr. Ashley Gearhardt (Associate Professor of Psychology, University of Michigan) will present a talk on October 21 at 11:30 AM CT in Room 1031 of the Dole Human Development Center (1000 Sunnyside Ave). Talk Title: Can Food Be Addictive? A Review of the Science

Talk Description: In this talk, Dr. Gearhardt will discuss the role of the tobacco industry in changing the modern food environment. She will also consider whether there is an addictive phenotype present in the excessive intake of food and whether it has clinical utility. Finally, the talk will evaluate benchmarks used to evaluate the addictiveness of tobacco to consider whether certain foods could be considered addictive.
