Have you ever had your interest piqued by discovering an animal bone in your backyard or on a walk? Learn how to turn these treasures into a hobby with a presentation on bone collecting by KU Museum Studies master's student Rebecca Hawkins! We'll cover how to find, clean, and identify bones. After the presentation, attendees can have any bones they've collected identified by Rebecca and take a look at animal skulls from the KU Natural History Museum.

Attendees can also help Rebecca in her research to create an online identification guide to the skulls of Kansas mammals. Those interested will be asked to use a draft of the guide to identify a real mammal skull, then take a short survey about their experience so that the guide can be improved. Testing should take 5-10 minutes, and research participants must be 18 years or older.
