 \, September 10 at 7:30 PM at Liberty Hall in Lawrence\, KS.Tourmaline wil
 l present her celebrated short film “Happy Birthday\, Marsha!\,” a spe
 culative portrait of trans activists Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera i
 n the hours leading up to the 1969 Stonewall rebellion. Following the scre
 ening\, Tourmaline will be in conversation with KU Assistant Professor of 
 Transgender Studies Jeanne Vaccaro. Tourmaline will share from her new boo
 k Marsha\, a biography of Marsha P. Johnson that chronicles decades of tra
 nsliberatory organizing and community building. Free copies of Marsha for 
 the first 20 attendees and books for sale\, courtesy of The Raven.This eve
 nt is part of Trans Studies at the Commons’s year of Listening for Liber
 ation\, an oral history project investing in trans archives and community.
