Please join us on the FMS Sound Stage (SUM 125) this Thursday, February 2nd at 7:00 pm! Barry St John, an FMS alum and producer in Hollywood, will be speaking in-person about Virtual Production and the future of filmmaking.

Barry St John is a producer whose focus is on virtual production and emerging technology on Hollywood films. St John's start to his career focused on camera and lighting, but he quickly redirected upon working with producer Joyce Cox on Men in Black 3. Cox's mentorship on MIB3, The Great Gatsby, and The Jungle Book gifted St John the opportunity and experience to step up and produce some of the most complicated films in the business.

The Jungle Book was a groundbreaking VFX film and before it could premier, St John was picked up by Warner Brothers for the Steven Spielberg film, Ready Player One. Working with his childhood idol, Steven Spielberg, St John cemented his spot in the virtual production space.

He went on to work on The Lion King and Mufasa: The Lion King. St John hopes to inspire the next generation of filmmakers to participate in the new wave of digital workflow. The demand for content is high, the available workforce is low, and the digital future is bright.

Don’t miss this chance to hear Barry talk about his experiences in Hollywood!
