Social class is a complex phenomenon that is often overlooked but undeniably influences our lives. This session will explore the complexity of social class and how it affects our experiences in higher education. Attendees will learn about trends related to broader social inequity in the U.S. and its relevance to our KU campus community.

Speaker Dr. Gist-Mackey (she/her) is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Kansas with expertise in organizational communication. She is a scholar who researches how people use communication as they experience social mobility, adversity, stigma, and power in organizational contexts.

The Belonging @ KU series aims to promote a healthy and vibrant community at KU by educating leaders and cultivating respect for all members of the KU and Kansas communities.
