The purpose of an investigation is to build upon available evidence and information to prove the elements of a particular crime. The investigation should lead to the apprehension of offenders and/or recovery of property through effective gathering, evaluation and documentation of facts. The investigation may lead to the arrest and successful prosecution of the case and/or recovery of stolen property.
This course will cover the various aspects of case management including case prioritization, follow-up investigations, documentation, time management, developing contacts and working with prosecutors. Attendees will be required to actively participate in classroom discussion and share information and ideas on how to approach building case files and preparing for criminal prosecutions.
