DESCRIPTION:This workshop is designed to teach fundamentals of providing ps
 ychoeducational and psychotherapy to youth with mood disorders and comorbid
  conditions. A review of the DSM-V-TR criteria over mood disorders in child
 ren and adolescents.   Participants will review some case examples and disc
 uss diagnosis and treatment needs. Participants will be building a tool kit
  to assist in treatment planning.  Participants will learn evidenced-based 
 techniques to work with clients to regulate emotions\, cognitive behavioral
  therapy fundamentals\; problem solving\; verbal and nonverbal skill enhanc
 ement\; improving healthy habits (sleep hygiene\, diet and exercise)\; chan
 ging maladaptive family patterns\; sibling issues and specific symptom mana
 gement strategies.\n\nThis course is particularly useful for licensed clini
 cians who require diagnostic continuing education hours for license renewal
 .  \n\n \n\nLearning Objectives: This course will provide the practitioner 
 with detailed information regarding evidence-based practice interventions f
 or children and adolescents with Mood Disorders. Specifically\, a professio
 nal will:\n\nDescribe how to assess and treat mood disorders in children an
 d adolescents.Identify key diagnostic differences between the various mood 
 disorders in children and adolescents. List some of the common approaches u
 sed to treat disruptive behavioral disorders in children and adolescents to
  support the treatment planning process. Discuss some of the challenges in 
 diagnosing bipolar disorder in children and adolescents.Summarize some of t
 he current findings in the literature regarding psychiatric treatment for c

 \n\nPresenter:\n\nRebeca Sandoval is a Professor of Practice at KU's School
  of Social Welfare and a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker with mo
 re than twenty years of experience working with individuals and families. S
 he was born and raised in Hutchinson and graduated from Hutchinson High Sch
 ool. She graduated from Hutchinson Community College and Bethany College (L
 indsborg\, KS) with a Bachelor of Science in Social Work and Administration
  of Justice. She graduated with Honors from Newman University (Wichita\, KS
 ) with a master’s in social work. In 2008\, she graduated from Mid America 
 Nazarene University (Olathe\, KS) with a certificate in Play Therapy. In 20
 12\, she graduated with a Master’s in Business from Wichita State Universit
 y. \n\nShe is a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor\, Certified in EMDR (E
 ye movement de-sensitization and reprocessing)\, Certified in Group Therapl
 ay and Certified in Aut-Play. She has completed additional training in anxi
 ety disorder treatment\, sand tray therapy\, filial therapy\, Theraplay\, b
 ereavement issues\, foster care/adoption issues\, substance abuse and attac
 hment-based issues. Rebeca has extensive experience in mediation and confli
 ct resolution. She is trained in Court approved Domestic Case Management an
 d Limited Case Management.  She specializes in working with high conflict f
 amilies and helps support the needs of everyone involved.  \n\nRebeca works
  with all ages and specializes in working with children\, teenagers\, and f
 amilies. She specializes in treating mood disorders\, anxiety disorders\, a
 ttachment issues\, adoption issues\, trauma\, grief/loss\, and family disco
 rd issues. She has an eclectic therapeutic model approach. She believes tha
 t no one model\, or theory works for everyone when it comes to their specif
 ic situation. She focuses on building rapport with individuals and assistin
 g them in setting their own therapeutic goals. She is very client centered.
  She loves to be creative in therapy and “thinks outside the box”\, when ne
 eding to come up with solutions to specific struggles. \n\n \n\nRegistratio
