Laryssa Rodrigues, a Spanish MA Student and GTA in the Department of Spanish & Portuguese, will be giving the following presentation: The Politics of Afro-Brazilian Music and Religion: Contemporary Female Afro-Brazilian Singers and Their Novel Representations of Candomblé on Wednesday, December 4th in Bailey 318 at 12pm. The presentation will explore the ways in which Afro-Brazilian female singers are representing Candomblé in their songs and the implications that this has from the perspective of racial and gender politics in Bahia/Brazil.
