A provocative exploration of self-discovery, this University Theatre production will prompt discussion about taboo topics. It opens the KU Theatre & Dance 2023-24 season in the William Inge Memorial Theatre, the blackbox in Murphy Hall.

Collective Rage: A Play in Five Betties by Jen Silverman

As five Betties follow what is happening in the world, they set out to do something important, taking audiences with them into the electric air of new relationships. A Shakespearean play within a play and bluntly feminine puppetry advances the narrative and conveys a powerful, courageous transformation in this dark comedy. Many of the Betties’ stories combat age-old constructs of exhaustion and repression through a diverse array of modern feministic and queer viewpoints.

KU's production of Collective Rage is being directed by PhD student Marzi Ashrafian. The play is approximately 90 minutes and presented without intermission.
