Ryan Bowersox, (she/they) is the Outreach and Marketing Director of Just Food, the food bank of Douglas County. Originally from the Ozark region of Southeast Missouri, Ryan has a lifetime of working within food systems and fighting for food justice through advocacy and activism. Surrounded by poverty and hunger in a farming community, Ryan started connecting the dots of how the food systems were failing and started on their mission to address these issues. With over 15 years of professional experience in the hospitality industry, food education and ground roots community organizing, Ryan joined the team at Just Food in 2019.
This talk is presented as part of the Climate Communications series, led by the interdisciplinary and interprofessional team of Shelley Bhattacharya, Associate Professor, Family Medicine and Community Health; Terrianne Lavin, Assistant Teaching Professor in Geography and Atmospheric Science; and Beto Lugo, Director of CleanAirNow. Their work is funded by an Interdisciplinary Seed Grant from the Health Humanities and Arts Research Collaborative.
