KU is one of ten research universities in the international Bay View Alliance (BVA), which aims to enhance teaching and learning in R1 settings. The BVA recently proctored a series of conversations among several R1 faculty about their experiences assessing student learning in online and remote course settings. From these discussions, the BVA distilled a succinct set of “best practice” recommendations that are especially helpful for anyone wrestling with the challenges of teaching during a pandemic.

In this CTE workshop, Drew Vartia (Chemistry) and Josh Potter (CTE) will proctor a discussion of these recommendations and facilitate participants’ development of ideas about how to concretely revise their courses in line with them. Due to the highly interactive nature of this session, registration is capped at 25 participants. Please note that participants will be asked to fill out a short survey 48 hours after completing the workshop.
