About this Event
General Practices
Each day of Das Lakshan Parva is dedicated to one of the ten virtues: forgiveness, humility, straightforwardness, contentment, truthfulness, self-restraint, penance, renunciation, non-attachment, and celibacy. Devotees engage in fasting, meditation, scriptural study, charity, and temple rituals, often eating only once a day or abstaining from food entirely. The festival encourages spiritual discipline, ethical living, and community harmony, culminating in Kshamavani, the day of universal forgiveness 1 2.
Description
Das Lakshan Parva follows the lunar Jain calendar, beginning on the fifth day (Panchami) of the bright fortnight of Bhadrapada and ending on the fourteenth day (Chaturdashi). These dates typically fall in August or September and vary slightly each year based on the moon cycle 1.
