Join us for our weekly colloquium series. This week we have Dr. Fengpeng Sun from Earth and Environmental Sciences, School of Science and Engineering at UMKC. 

Dr. Sun will present recent research on the urban heat island phenomenon in the Kansas City area, integrating NOAA heat mapping data with high-resolution climate simulations. His team’s work examines how urban development influences local climate, evaluates UHI intensity and spatial patterns, and explores mitigation strategies. He will also demonstrate an interactive 3D-printed UHI model using real materials and infrared imaging to visualize temperature contrasts.
