Morazán (2017) is a Honduran feature film that focuses on the last days of Francisco Morazán,
a prominent political leader that in 1842 fought his last battle to reunify the Central American
Republic. This film won the Best Central American Production award at the 20th Ícaro Festival
in Guatemala and was the Honduran official submission to the 90th Academy Awards.

For the first time it will be screened at the University of Kansas, as part of the Hispanic
Heritage Month celebration, by the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies and the
Film & Media Studies Department. Hispano Durón, writer and director of the film and a KU
alumnus, will be present for Q&A. The event will take place on October 13th, 7:00pm at
Summerfield Hall, FMS Soundstage, Room 125.
