About this Event
2099 Constant Avenue, Lawrence, KS 66047
https://biosurvey.ku.edu/friday-ecology-seminarsAs part of our 2025 Friday Ecology Seminars series, the Kansas Biological Survey & Center for Ecological Research welcomes Josh Bolick, head of the David Shulenburger Office of Scholarly Communication & Copyright at KU Libraries. He’ll talk about how open access research publishing helps both researchers and the general public.
Most researchers want the broadest possible access to their publications, but navigating the increasingly complex publication landscape to achieve that is challenging. In this seminar, Josh will provide an overview of open access in the current publication and funder landscapes and share information about how KU Libraries supports researchers to make their works as open as possible, including through publication agreements that waive article processing charges, with a focus on opportunities in the life sciences.
This hybrid seminar will begin at 12:15 p.m. in room 152 Smissman Labs (next door to Takeru Higuchi Hall, 2101 Constant Ave.) on KU’s west campus. Doors open at 12:05.
During the fall 2025 semester, talks will be hybrid and broadcast via Zoom. Most talks also will be recorded for our YouTube channel. If you’re on Zoom, you may join beginning at 12:05 p.m.
