Join us for MFA Candidate, Hannah Lindo's thesis exhibition, "Hidden Beneath" running MON, APR 4 - FRI, APR 8. Closing Reception will be THU, APR 7, 4:00PM-7:30PM.

"Hidden Beneath : What lingers beneath the surface is often ignored. It piles high and grows uncontrollably, waiting for recognition. With time, wounds fester, emotions shift, and realizations blossom under a seemingly grounded demeanor. The worries and wonders pacing in my tangled mind rush to the surface with a blushing display of red. I am afraid of others knowing what I am truly feeling. An uncomfortable state of change transitions into a moment of relief, as I no longer have to conceal.

I paint landscapes shaped by internal and external conditions I experience. I question how to make sense of and find closure in a world constantly evolving, a world where everyone and everything continuously grows. My painting process mimics my body’s movement as I create spaces of wonder and apprehension. Paint becomes my vehicle for contemplating change. I hope to remember that the act of transformation can be an overwhelming, terrifying, and surprisingly beautiful process.

What can grow does not always bloom, and what falls apart does not remain in pieces."

Exhibition located in the Edgar Heap of Birds Family Gallery located on the 3rd floor of Chalmers Hall and will be open M-F from 8:30AM-5:00PM, or by appointment.
