Don’t miss the opportunity to be part of one of the fastest growing careers in health care at KU Medical Center

What is Health Information Management (HIM)?

HIM is the practice of acquiring, analyzing, and protecting digital and traditional medical information vital to providing quality patient care. It combines elements of business, science, and information technology to ensure that health data is managed effectively.

What Does a Health Information Professional Do?

Health Information (HI) professionals are highly trained experts in the latest information management technologies. They are integral to healthcare organizations, ensuring that patient health information is complete, accurate, and secure. HI professionals bridge the gap between clinicians, administrators, and technology, impacting patient care at every stage of the healthcare delivery cycle. They are responsible for the quality, integrity, and protection of health information, making a significant difference in patient outcomes.
