Professional development opportunity for pre-service and in-service teachers in partnership with the Kansas Department of Education focusing on improving K-12 education classroom education. Learn from Indigenous studies experts and leaders of tribal Nations in and connected to Kansas. Facilitated teacher Q & A and small discusion groups will be included throughout the day. Continental breakfast and lunch provided. Non-traditional educators welcome.

Summit topics include: Understanding Indigenous Civilizations of North America, Fundamentals of Tribal Sovereignty, Stories of Responsible Non-Native Alliance Building in Kansas: Kansas Land Treaties and Repatriation of Iⁿ‘zhúje‘waxóbe/Sacred Red Rock Project, Native Nations of Kansas Panel--Past and Present: Forced Migrations of the Past, Ongoing Persistence in the Present, and Contemporary Issues and Developments in Indian Country.
