http://music.ku.eduJoin us on April 19 for the KU School of Music Kansas Virtuosi’s “Sounds of Spring,” an engaging program that celebrates the season with color, lyricism, and vitality. The concert features Dorothy Howell’s lyrical and exuberant Air, Variations, and Finale for oboe, violin, and piano; Warren Benson’s richly atmospheric work for saxophone and piano; and The Voice of Rain, a vivid and evocative soundscape by KU composer Ingrid Stölzel. The program culminates in a grand finale as KU faculty perform Francis Poulenc’s beloved and expressive Sextet for winds and piano. Faculty performers are: Daniel Velasco, flute; Margaret Marco, oboe; Stephanie Zelnick, clarinet; Midori Samson, bassoon; Geoffrey Landman, saxophone; Kelly Misko, horn; Sun-Young Gemma Shin, violin; Boris Vayner, viola; Erin Wood, harp; Ellen Sommer, piano.
