#speakerHow Developing a Breadth of Interests Can Benefit You and Society: Kerm Campbell graduated with a BS in Chemical Engineering from KU in 1960, followed by an MS degree from MIT. He served for 32 years at Dow Corning in Michigan, the UK, and Belgium. While with Dow Corning, he helped develop trade relations for the company in the former Soviet Union (1970s) and China (1980s). He later served as CEO of Herman Miller before becoming an entrepreneur and starting Blackstar Farms in 1998 (premium wines, resort and culinary programs). While at KU he spent a great deal of time in the School of Music and this had a significant impact on his life. Mr. Campbell will speak about how developing an understanding of geography and a variety of cultures and developing a broad set of interests can pave the way for serving many people and advancing the common good.
