It's springtime, and that means it's KITE season! Join the KU Center for East Asian Studies and the Spencer Museum of Art for our annual Kite Festival. This community event commemorates the Hamamatsu Kite Festival that occurs each May in Japan.  Our three sessions are free and open to the public. It's fun for kids of all ages and kids at heart!

Step 2: Have fun!

Decorate a kite! Fly a kite!

View kite-related art in the museum!

Learn the history of kites!

Make a kabuto (Japanese helmet)! 1:00, 2:00, & 3:00 pm

See an aikido demonstration! 1:30, 2:30, & 3:30 pm

Enter our free raffle! Five kites will be given away!  1:45, 2:45, & 3:45 pm
