The University of Kansas Field Station's core research area will be open for the biennial Visitors' Day. Members of the public will be welcomed behind the scenes to tour the restricted-access research areas at the Field Station and learn about ongoing research projects. Stations will be set up along a 1.5-mile loop that starts and ends at the Armitage Education Center. Visitors should check in when they arrive, then may walk the loop (the entire route or just part of the way) at their own pace, stopping along the way to talk with researchers.

Visitors should come to the Field Station's headquarters at 350 Wild Horse Road, about 15 minutes north of downtown Lawrence, Kansas. The entrance is clearly marked by the gateway sign in the photo with this listing. Proceed through this gate and a second gate to the Armitage Education Center and parking.

The walking loop includes interior gravel roads and mowed paths through research areas. Expect uneven footing and some elevation change. Ticks, poison ivy and wildlife may be present, so please dress accordingly; wear long pants and closed-toe shoes, and bring a water bottle and sun protection.

There is no need to RSVP, but please check the social media pages listed below for weather-related updates.
