You won’t want to miss this!

On Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at 6:30 p.m., the KU School of Health Professions is hosting a virtual open house for our "2+2" bachelor's degree programs. In these programs, you complete two years on the Lawrence campus and finish your degree with two years at KU Medical Center, entering a career in very high demand right out of college!

Many of today's medical and health care professionals are highly visible and interact with dozens of patients every day, while others do much of their hard work behind the scenes or away from public view.

Most people know a nurse or two, and you may find yourself going to occasional doctor's appointments or to your local pharmacy. But what about the clinical laboratory scientists, responsible for performing scientific testing on samples and reporting results to physicians? Or health information administrators that manages, protects, and analyzes critical health care data, including the aspects of business and information technology? Or respiratory therapists that specialize in breathing concerns, cardiopulmonary disorders and collaborate directly with nurses, physicians and patients?

Fast Facts

  • Our clinical laboratory science students are usually recruited to their first position while still in the program and report an average starting salary of $62,500.
  • Across the entire profession of health information administrators, the median salary was $104,830 per year in 2022.
  • Employment of respiratory therapists is projected to grow 13%, with a median annual salary of $70,540, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

In our virtual open house on March 5, you'll hear directly from faculty and current students about admission requirements, scholarship opportunities, the KU Medical Center campus and more.

Not convinced? Join us if you fall under any of these:

  • I am thinking about changing my major, but I want a career in health care.
  • I want to help people, but would like to do something unique.
  • I believe I have skills that might cross over to patient care and health sciences.
