The Labyrinth of Desire by Caridad Svich plays Oct. 14-22 in the William Inge Memorial Theatre at Murphy Hall. All performances are at 7:30pm with the exception of Sunday, Oct. 16, which is at 2:30pm.

Masquerading suitors pursue Laura for her beauty, her wit, and her dowry. When Florela’s fiancé Alejandro joins the pursuit, Florela pursues him. Florela goes undercover, befriending Laura and falling in love with her too. This breezy comedy of romance and hijinks asks, “what compels us to hide our true self” and “to what lengths will we go to satisfy desire?” Adapted from Lope de Vega's play La Prueba de los IngeniosThe Labyrinth of Desire’s sharp dialogue and timeless themes mixes cloak and dagger comedy alongside contemporary drama to question the power of love and transformation.

This production is guest directed by Paris Crayton III, whose participation is supported in part by KU's Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, with additional support from the LeWan Alexander Spiritship Fund of the Department of Theatre & Dance.

This is a live, in-person performance, though a livestream of the Friday, Oct. 21 event will be made available. Access livestream information at https://kutheatre.ku.edu/streaming
