https://facultyaffairs.ku.edu/new-facultyThe Office of Faculty Affairs invites all new faculty to our New Faculty Foundations 1.0 event: Advising Graduate Students: Essential Tools and Resources. Our New Faculty Foundations 1.0 are designed with first-year faculty in mind, but are open to all faculty within their first several years at KU, with relevant topics geared towards all New Faculty experiences. The New Faculty Foundations series offers opportunities to learn about relevant and timely topics as they intersect with the faculty role, as well as time to connect with New Faculty peers over light refreshments.
Advising Graduate Students: Essential Tools and Resources
In our work as faculty members, serving as an advisor to graduate students supports their programmatic development in crucial ways, and also benefits our work as faculty, our departments, units, and disciplines. Join us for a session in partnership with the Office of Graduate Studies to learn more about the difference between advising and mentoring, key best practices in our work as graduate student advisors, and learn about essential resources to support healthy engagement between advisors and advisees, whether you are chairing a masters or doctoral student’s committee.
