Thursdays, Oct. 5-19, 7:15 - 9:15 p.m.

We'll focus on the mobilization of American industry prior to our entering WWII, the expansion of the U.S. Army, the rationing of scarce commodities, the improvement of health and nutrition, and the public's response to the war. We'll study employing women in the industrial sector, the rise of child day-care, America's propaganda war, the internment of Japanese Americans, funding of the war with war bonds, and Hollywood's contribution to the war effort. Finally, we'll review the Manhattan Project, the creation of the United Nations, the demobilization of America's military, reintegrating returning G.I.s into civilian society, and America's place in the Post-War World.
