Attend a free screening of “Fargo.” A desperate car salesman hatches a plan to have his wife kidnapped to extort ransom money from her wealthy father, but the scheme spirals out of control. A very pregnant, unfailingly polite small-town police chief finds herself on the trail of the culprits amid the frozen landscape of Minnesota and North Dakota. This darkly comic crime thriller from the Coen brothers blends bumbling criminals, brutal violence, and deadpan humor into one of modern cinema’s most distinctive stories.

After the movie, stay for a discussion about crime and police work with the director of KU’s Criminal Justice program, Susan Whitford, and adjunct professor Andrew Whitford.
