The KU Center for Genomics will host Lee DeHaan from The Land Institute for a seminar at 4pm on Friday, 11/4. The Land Institute is a non-profit research organization located in Salina, Kansas and has as its mission to create agricultural systems that are more like natural systems using a collaborative research approach. Lee DeHaan is Director of Crop Improvement and the Lead Scientist for the Kernza Domestication Program. Kernza is a perennial grain that has increased yield and decreased environmental impacts compared to several standard grains. Several breweries, including Free State Brewing Company have brewed beer with Kernza.
