Style frames are mockups of what a final frame of an animation or motion graphic piece might look like. They are used to help animators and motion designers pitch and then build their work. 

Upcoming speaker for the Design Department's Design Symposium Lecture Series and professional motion designer, Justin C. Harder of CLAUS studios, will be giving a special 2-night virtual workshop on designing style frames. 

Session 1 – virtual live demo and assignment

  • Monday, Nov 21st at 7-10pm
  • Open to all Design students

Justin will give a demo of his approach and techniques, show some examples of his work and that of his students, and give a participants a special assignment to work on over the next week (over Thanksgiving break).

Any Design student at any skill level or major is encouraged to attend.

*** We have space for 15 students to sign up for a professional critique after the break in session 2. Slot are limited so please send an email to sign up (see below).

Session 2 – virtual live critique

  • Monday, Nov 28th at 7-10pm (right after thanksgiving break)
  • Open to all Design students

Justin will return to take a look at the work, and give 15 participants a live critique of their designs. Anyone else is invited to listen in.

Justin is the illustrator, designer, director, and motion designer behind CLAUS studios (http://www.clausstudios.com/), and has created motion designs for NBC, Marvel, Disney, NBA, Google, and a whole host of others. You've probably seen his work animating little Deadool for the Marvel movie series. 

He will be presenting a live virtual talk about his work as part of the KU Design Symposium Lecture series on December 1st.
