Join KU faculty, staff and students, and the Douglas County Extension Master Gardeners for the annual summer tour of the KU Native Medicinal Plant Research Garden. Kelly Kindscher, senior scientist at the Kansas Biological Survey & Center for Ecological Research and a professor in the KU Environmental Studies Program, will give an overview of the research gardens and highlight important species. We will explore the garden and see the work of the Master Gardeners, who partner with our research center to manage the garden. See the YouTube video of still images from the 2024 tour.

Wear comfortable shoes, and bring a water bottle, plus a lawn chair if you'd like to watch the sunset about 8:40 p.m.

The garden, which is part of the KU Field Station, is open every day, dawn to dusk. It is a short drive from downtown Lawrence at 1865 E 1600 Road in Douglas County, next to Prairie Moon Waldorf School (old Grant Township School), just north of Highway 24/40. Tour participants may park in the school's parking lot if the the parking area at the garden is full.

No RSVP is required. This event is weather-dependent and may be cancelled if weather is inclement.

The KU Field Station is managed by the Kansas Biological Survey & Center for Ecological Research. A Facebook event will be posted two weeks before the event on the research center's page.
