This 90 minute workshop designed for people who know nothing about 3D printing.
The first hour of the workshop will cover:
-What is 3D printing?
-Types of filament
-How a 3D model is made?
-3D printing software
- Makings and learning from mistakes
The last 30 minutes of the workshop will be dedicated to making a lithophane from an image to be printed on the printers in the Makerspace. Please note that lithophanes take a long time to print and will not be printed during the workshop. They will be put in the printing queue for participants to pick up at a later date.
It is recommended participants bring their personal laptop with an image (jpg or png) no larger than 3x5 inches to convert into a lithophane. Laptops will be provided for those that need one.
This workshop is limited to 5 participants.
The workshop will take place in the KU Libraries Makerspace (203 A-C), located on the 2nd floor of Anschutz Library. If you are in need of accommodation, please contact the KU Libraries Makerspace - libmakerspace@ku.edu.
