OVERVIEW
At the historical turning point when the international order is being challenged, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will make an official visit to the US on April 10, and address a joint meeting of the U.S. Congress on April 11. The visit is expected to demonstrate that U.S. and Japan have become global partners, standing united in upholding and bolstering the free and open international order based on the rule of law. Beneath this global partnership lies KIZUNA, the strong bond of trust and friendship, which have been nurtured by multiple layers of human connections and business partnership between our two peoples.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Mr. Jun Yanagi assumed his post as Consul-General of Japan serving ten Midwestern States of U.S. in August 2023. Mr. Yanagi joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of Japan in 1988, and since then, has served in diplomatic assignments in Nigeria, Australia, Russia, Canada, Vietnam, and Vienna. In Japan, Mr. Yanagi served as the director of Western Europe and deputy of cabinet intelligence (CIRO). Mr. Yanagi was also a professor at Tohoku University, when he wrote and published a book on diplomacy. Mr. Yanagi read law at Tokyo University and earned his masters of PPE at Oxford University.
