How do views about sex roles affect confidence in the US military and its performance in global missions? 

Dr. Danielle Lupton, Dir. of Colgate University's International Relations Program, hypothesizes that beliefs reinforcing traditional sex roles are associated with higher confidence in the military. Using an original survey, Lupton and colleagues find that individuals with more traditional attitudes are significantly less confident in the military when it engages in non-traditional missions.
