On Wednesday, February 21, from 6 pm to 7:30 pm, in Burge Union, Forum B, please join the Emily Taylor Center for Women & Gender Equity for a special session of Zines & Za dedicated to the February Sisters in partnership with The Department of Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies.

Zines & Za, the Emily Taylor Center's zine night series hosted by Zine Fellow Monty Protest offers a welcoming feminist space for people to connect and create in community with one another over free pizza (including veg and vegan options).

During this session, Meg Williams will offer participants a brief history of the February Sisters before Monty invites attendees to work on an 8.5 x 11-inch page for inclusion in a collaborative zine project dedicated to the Sisters titled "Remembering KU's February Sisters, Imagining KU's Feminist Future."

Prompt: Make a page that honors the feminist activism of the February Sisters in 1972 and/or imagines KU’s feminist future within the context of their legacy by answering the question: what would a university where “the pressing needs of women” — as well as those of femmes and people of marginalized genders — are met look like?

Email submissions to emilytaylorcenter@ku.edu or drop off hard copies at Burge Union 1040 by Wednesday, March 6.

Contributors to the "Remembering KU's February Sisters, Imagining KU's Feminist Future" will be given the opportunity to feature their work at a Zine Release & Reflection reception on Monday, March 18, from 6 pm to 7:30 pm, in the North Gallery of the Spencer Research Library (1450 Poplar Lane). This Women's History Month celebration will feature guests of honor February Sisters Christine Leonard Smith and Jo Andersen, zine contributors reflecting on their submissions, and a University Archives display of original documents telling the story of the February Sisters. The first thirty attendees will receive a free copy of the zine. Refreshments provided.
